CORPORATE DIVISION               

This division is designed for corporate crews who are looking for the team building benefits, fun and challenge of Dragon Boat racing.  Corporate teams wanting to train outside the hours permitted will be directed to join the Open Division.2020

  • Mixed crews
  • A minimum number of 8 male and 8 female paddlers in the boat when racing.
  • A minimum number of 15 crew members must be employees of the company or subsidiary (see race rule 9 for the definition of an ‘employee’).
  • On race weekend a maximum squad of 25 only may be drawn upon to provide the crew of 22 for each race.
  • Crews in this division are offered a minimum of 8 hours to a maximum of 12 hours of training before the Festival in Wellington

ALL OTHER DIVISIONS

These division are for non-corporate crews.

  • No restrictions on individual team members in terms of employer.
  • Options for Mixed, Men’s, all  Women’s or Breast Cancer Survivor crews and Teachers & Parents crews
  • Age group divisions can be 40 years + for Masters or 50 years + for Grand Masters
  • A minimum number of 8 male and 8 female paddlers in the mixed boat when racing.
  • On race weekend a maximum squad of 25 may be drawn on to provide the crew of 22 for each race.
  • Crews in this division are offered a minimum of 8 hours of training before competing in the Festival.  You can train one or two hours per week depending on the start date requested.  There is no upper limit on the number of training sessions.

Note

Training outside of the times available through the festival office is subject to certain conditions with costs to be covered by the crew.

Some open teams may consist of employees of one workplace who either do not meet the corporate criteria for the Corporate Division or who simply wish to race in Open Division.

Other crews will be clubs or society crews.  Some will be sponsored by a company providing few or no team members, but who are prepared to pay the entrance fee for the public relation benefits of Dragon Boat racing.
